MCHA Achieves MGMA "Better Performer" Status

Midwest Community Health Associates was recognized as a “Better Performing Practice” for superior operational performance compared with similar medical group practices nationwide. The recognition came from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Performance and Practices of Successful Medical Groups: 2009 Report Based on 2008 Data.

MCHA received classification as a Better Performing Practice in three out of four categories, as follows: (1) Productivity, Capacity and Staffing; (2) Financial Management; and (3) Patient Satisfaction.

The MGMA report, a benchmarking standard among medical groups for over a decade, was produced using data from respondents to the MGMA Cost Survey: 2009 Reports Based on 2008 Data as well as data from a questionnaire that assessed management behaviors, practices and procedures of better performers.

Of 1,732 medical groups responding to the survey from across the country, MCHA was one of just 28 to be recognized nationwide as a Better Performing Practice in three of the four categories. MCHA was one of 22 medical groups in the state of Ohio to qualify in any of the categories.

“This designation is a significant achievement for MCHA,” said Stacey Bock, Chief Financial Officer and interim CEO. “It establishes us as a preeminent provider to our patients, will assist in our recruiting efforts for physicians, and will demonstrate value to other healthcare providers with whom we partner.”

“MGMA’s Better Performing Practice is one of the highest recognitions in our industry,” said Dr. Diane Conrad, Medical Director and interim CEO. “The recognition comes to us because of the efforts made by our employees every day.

“Ultimately, patients receive the biggest benefit from our success,” Dr. Conrad continued. “MCHA is very particular about working hard and doing the right thing to benefit our patients and our communities. This designation proves that we are accomplishing those goals.”

The MGMA report, a benchmarking standard among medical groups for over a decade, was produced using data from respondents to the MGMA Cost Survey: 2009 Reports Based on 2008 Data as well as data from a questionnaire that assessed management behaviors, practices and procedures of better performers. The report profiles medical practices that have demonstrated success in one or more areas: financial management; productivity, capacity and staffing; accounts receivable and collections; and patient satisfaction.
